Natural Herbs for Erectile Dysfunction

Erection can be a problem at times, but it becomes an ailment if it is an ongoing process.

There are herbal supplements available in the market that claim to treat erectile dysfunction. It is advisable to speak to your doctor before starting any supplements.

  1. Maca

Maca is a root vegetable available in Peru. It is available in varieties of black, red and yellow. This herb is rich in the following contents: iron, iodine, amino acids, and magnesium. Maca can reduce stress, which is a factor due to which erectile dysfunction can occur. It does not have any adverse effects on the hormonal levels. The recommended dosage is around three grams of maca per day.

Also referred to as White’s ginger, Mondia whitei is a popular herb in Uganda where it is commonly used to manage low sperm count. It is also used to increase libido and testosterone levels in the body. Typically, it is suggested as a natural remedy to treat erectile dysfunction.

  1. Panax Ginseng

Extensively used in China as herbal medicine, Panax Ginseng is used to treat erectile dysfunction too. There have been clinical trials to prove that this herb, when ingested, shows a noticeable improvement in improved libido, rigidity, duration of erection, and overall satisfaction. It is available as a supplement and added in creams too.

  1. Ginkgo Biloba

Next in our list of natural herbs for treating erectile dysfunction is Ginkgo Biloba. It works by escalating the blood flow to the penis. This, in turn, would help to treat erectile dysfunction and improve sexual desire too. It does have some side effects like stomach upset, headache, and dizziness. Another disadvantage of this herb is that it can soar up the risk of bleeding and hence should not be taken by people who have bleeding disorders.

  1. Yohimbine

The next herb on our list is yohimbine. It is available in many West African countries. It is believed to increase sexual desire, broaden the blood vessels to escalate the blood flow in the penis, activate the penile nerves, and hence be used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. It is also given in combination with arginine. Many studies have proved this aspect. There are some side effects to this herb’s intake, like stomach cramps, diarrhea, and nausea, and hence be taken with caution.

  1. Horny Goat Weed

Supplements of horny goat weed can be ingested to improve the condition of erectile dysfunction. It can have a few side effects in some instances. These side effects might include vomiting, nausea, dry mouth, and irregular heartbeat.

The cause of erectile dysfunction could be psychological, too, apart from medical conditions. Even certain prescriptions given for other medical conditions can cause this medical condition.
